Wellington’s James Cook Hotel Grand Chancellor has confirmed a refurbishment that would cost at least $10 million.

The upgrade is limited to the hotel’s Lambton Wing, directly above Lambton Quay, which includes 200 of the hotel’s 268 rooms and suites, plus an executive club lounge.

The James Cook Hotel Grand Chancellor, in central Wellington City, sits between the retail district of Lambton Quay and the Terrace.

Construction is expected to run into 2019 and will be done from the top floor down, in stages of three to four floors at a time to minimise disruption to guests.
