A long-awaited multi-million-dollar plan to redevelop Johnsonville’s mall has been left to languish, with questions being raised over whether it will ever go ahead.
Johnsonville residents have been waiting decades for a mall redevelopment to return the suburb to its golden age and have now had enough, says mayoral candidate Jenny Condie.
On Friday, Roy Stansfield, general manager of shopping centres at Stride Property, the company at the heart of redevelopment plans, said there were “several hurdles to overcome before it can be confirmed that the development will proceed”.
Stride was “reviewing redevelopment options”, he said.
