One of two historical homes where Katherine Mansfield’s family, the Beauchamps, holidayed at Eastbourne is up for sale.

“The Glen”, at 283a Muritai Road, is the first family cottage in the bays that would have influenced the great writer, who spend several summers here with her family.

Mansfield is renowned for her short stories that include “At the Bay“, which was written in 1921, and is believed to reference The Glen, with its “sound of the sleepy sea”, and “little streams flowing” into “ferny basins”.
