Wellington landlord David Huang has had to pay compensation after he gave his tenant five days’ notice that he would be building a house in his tenant’s backyard.

Caitlin Bates had been in the Mt Victoria house less than a month when she received notice from Huang that he would be starting work on a whole new house in her backyard in less than a week.
