A diplomat accused of being a bad tenant in a $1500 a week home says her private tenancy was not outside her diplomatic functions.
Eva Tvarozkova, deputy chief of mission for the European Union Delegation to New Zealand, was not present at the Wellington Tenancy Tribunal on Wednesday but her lawyer said the claim against her for more than $20,000 should fail because she had diplomatic immunity.
Lawyer Peter Cullen said the tribunal did not have jurisdiction over the diplomat, and the proceedings should be dismissed or stayed.
