If there is any property slow-down in the Covid-19 environment, it’s not happening in Glen Eden, Auckland, where demand outstrips supply.
This property was advertised as “dirt cheap dirt” – cheap because it’s a house with a flat roof that has been leaking for several years, and cheap because a large part of the 1679 square-metre section is classified as a floodplain.
Yet the demand from buyers exceeded every expectation, says listing agent Ying Li Howe of Barfoot & Thompson Glen Eden.
The house sold after the agency received nine offers in the first five days. And while Howe had said in her listing that the negotiation range was in the low $500,000s – a comparable land value for the area – the property went for $620,000.
