Levin property

Homeowners affected by the planned Ōtaki to north of Levin expressway hold no power in the negotiations to sell their land, only humiliation, warns a riled property owner.

Arapaepae Rd resident Judy Ashworth, 66, and her husband Alan, 72, have been trying to get the New Zealand Transport Agency to purchase their home and rental property since January.

Their land is within the corridor for the expressway that was announced in December last year, but has no funding attached and no sign of a start date. But the agency allows advanced purchases in cases of hardship.

For this Ashworth has had to provide a year’s worth of financial records, a statement from a doctor outlining health issues, and disclose information about land she had purchased in Timaru.
