Kiwi property-seekers were squeezed for choice in October with fewer listings to choose from nationwide, realestate.co.nz data shows.

In Auckland, new listings were down almost 20 per cent with only 3566 new properties coming on to the market during October.
Realestate.co.nz spokeswoman Vanessa Taylor said people had been late to list for spring.
New listings in October fell 8.4 per cent in Wellington, to 757 listings, and 21.6 per cent in Canterbury to 1393 listings, reflecting a national trend.
The total number of homes available for sale were also fewer.
