Finding housing in Auckland is so hard, the market has forged a new type of accommodation solution: Co-living.

Co-living first made headlines in June with the construction of The Coh, an upmarket quasi-dorm for adults which boasts rooms smaller than a parking space for $360pw.

Similar to dorms, hostels and boarding houses, co-living follows the principle of having individual rooms mixed with shared living spaces in one communal house.

But it’s a lot more permanent. The people who frequent them stay, on average, between six months and two years. And you could be neighbours with anyone from 20-60 years old.
