A Lower Hutt lawyer, Peter Morahan, has lost an appeal against findings that he breached professional duties to a woman over property dealings.

The Court of Appeal has upheld findings of negligence or incompetence against Morahan.

As well as being suspended from practice for four months from July 1, he also had to pay costs of $37,171.63 to the New Zealand Law Society.

Morahan’s original client began a relationship with the woman, and Morahan acted for a trust that was set up, and them as a couple.
