Commercial real estate sales are expected to slow as the lockdown rules prevent agents from physically showing properties to prospective buyers.

Existing sales already unconditional would settle but new sales would be held up by the inability to inspect properties during the lockdown. Sales or leases were rarely entered into without a physical inspection, commercial real estate firms said.

Bayleys national director for commercial Ryan Johnson said Covid-19 Alert Level 4 was black and white, that only essential services were operating during the lockdown.

Inspections were face to face contact so “nationally they are not going to happen”.
