The purchaser of a Melbourne entertainer’s residence will acquire a slice of sports history. Situated in Brighton, the lavish estate at 13 Park Street has returned to the market after changing hands in February, where it once hosted the late cricket legend Shane Warne for a friendly game of backyard cricket.

Property records indicate that this five-bedroom, five-bathroom mansion was sold in February for $14.1 million, slightly below its initial price guidance of over $15.95 million. The listing was handled by agents Stephen Smith, Simone Howell, and Scott Xue of Marshall White Bayside at the time.

Now, the same agency is overseeing its sale, with agents Matthew Pillios, Melissa Grinter, and Scott Xue at the helm. The current price range is set at $14.8 million to $15.95 million. Shane Warne tragically passed away on March 4 the previous year at the age of 52, succumbing to a suspected heart attack while vacationing in Thailand.

According to the previous listing agent, Stephen Smith, this property was the scene where the cricket legend bowled “flippers to the whole of the St Kilda Football Club while out on the tennis court.”

This elegant estate was once owned by former St Kilda Football Club president Rod Butterss, which likely explains Warne and the players’ frequent visits. Besides the flood-lit, north-south tennis court, the property boasts a pool, spa, alfresco terrace, and a commercial-grade bar complete with beer taps. Privacy is paramount, thanks to secure gates and lush greenery, and the listing describes the home as a “world-class entertainer” offering “five-star luxury.”

The lucky buyer will be able to indulge their guests with a 1000-bottle wine cellar in the basement, a gym, and lift access to all levels. The interiors exude opulence with marble and polished timber floors, soaring ceilings, a neutral color scheme, neoclassical columns, and a grand sweeping staircase.

Floor-to-ceiling windows provide vistas of the meticulously landscaped gardens and tennis court, and there’s even an entire wing dedicated to the master suite. The location is another major attraction, as Brighton is a highly sought-after area for families, boasting proximity to prestigious schools, parklands, playgrounds, Elwood Beach, and upscale amenities like the Royal Brighton Yacht Club and Middle Brighton Marina.

Brighton is also conveniently located just 11 kilometers southeast of Melbourne’s CBD, approximately a 15-minute drive away. As of the June 2023 quarter, Domain’s House Price Report indicates that the median house price for Brighton stands at $2,990,500.
