A 10-hectare site in Auckland earmarked for a major development has all the elements bulk buy giant Costco is looking for, a retail expert says.

However, the international company behind the development, Logos, is remaining tight-lipped on whether it is in talks with the American retailer.

Logos bought the Wiri site from a subsidiary of Fletcher Building, with plans to build a 55,000 square metre logistics estate on it.

For the past month, representatives from Costco have been scoping out potential sites in Auckland. They are looking for a space which can hold a 15,000sqm to 25,000sqm building and has direct motorway access.
