Major Nigel Gattsche has built structures from Egypt to Antarctica and believes the key to solving the country’s housing crisis could be tiny.

He’s building a proof-of-concept tiny home on his Lake Ferry property in South Wairarapa with a plan to get people into homes at a fraction of the cost of the lowest-priced KiwiBuild house.

Gattsche believes he can put together a 24 square metre home plus a mezzanine bedroom for just over $90,000.
