A Czech businessman who bought Canterbury’s sprawling Mt White Station says he will comply with Overseas Investment Office (OIO) requirements just before the deadline.
Lukas Travnicek, through his company Southern Ranges, bought the station, comprising 39,337ha of Crown pastoral lease and 678ha of freehold land near Arthur’s Pass, after gaining OIO approval in July last year.
Travnicek and his family – all New Zealand residents since 2013 – had previously lived in New Plymouth but were residing in the Czech Republic when he applied for the consent, making him an overseas person.
