As many small breweries and pubs face closure due to the rising cost of living, NRL superstar Nathan Cleary is aiming to profit from selling beer.

Cleary is set to expand his business ventures later this month with the opening of his sports bar, Freddy’s, in the heart of Penrith. Named after former Panthers and Roosters premiership winner Brad Fittler, Freddy’s will be a new addition to Cleary’s growing hospitality empire.Freddy’s will occupy the former site of Duck Duck Goose on High Street and aims to become the go-to spot for sports fans to watch major footy games and other sporting events.

Cleary co-founded Drink West brewery, known as ‘The People’s Beer,’ in 2019 with UFC fighter Tyson Pedro and MMA star Tai Tuivasa. In 2022, they opened Drink West Brewery on Castlereagh Road, Penrith, transforming the area into a social and business hub.

The new venture provides Cleary with a focus as he continues to recover from a hamstring injury.
