PHOTO: JAMIE COBEL Nathan McCullum and his family have settled in Wai O Taiki Bay, Auckland. They have just bought a new house in the same street they moved into a year ago.

The old state houses have gone from many parts of Wai O Taiki Bay near Glen Innes in Auckland, as the suburb regenerates with a wealth of new housing.

And one of the most enthusiastic new owners in the suburb, on the edge of the Tāmaki Regeneration project, is former cricketer Nathan McCullum.

McCullum, brother of former Blackcap Brendon McCullum, retired from cricket in 2016 after a career playing for New Zealand in one-day and Twenty20 matches, and in the ICC. He says four years ago, it was fiancée Vanessa Waldron’s job that sparked the move north from Dunedin, where he had played for Otago and the Otago Volts.
