GREATER Brisbane’s affordable house prices were behind a slight drop in the median house price in the past quarter, although figures were still up for the year.

National figures released by the Real Estate Institute of Australia showed that the median house price in greater Brisbane, including outer council areas such as Ipswich and Logan, were down by 2.8 per cent to $515,000.

Although the median was 2 per cent higher than the same time last year.

According to the Real Estate Institute of Queensland the median house price for the Brisbane local government area alone had increased 3.1 per cent in the past year to a new record of $670,000.
