Earthquake Commission (EQC) claim numbers are now publicly searchable to help people looking to buy Canterbury homes.
The Property Search site will be on Environment Canterbury’s website. It will list the EQC claim number only, and no personal or identifying information.
EQC Minister Grant Robertson said people needed to know if the house they’re buying has had a claim for earthquake damage and whether it had been fixed.
“The house might have been sold two or three times since the Canterbury earthquakes, so sometimes this information can be hard to come by.
