Raine & Horne New Zealand’s expansion has welcomed three well-established Far North real estate offices. Branches have been opened in Kaitaia, Mangonui, and Paihia, led by experienced real estate agent and auctioneer Gerard Ponsonby. These offices mark the first addition to the brand’s expansion in New Zealand, with more to follow.
Raine & Horne, celebrating its 140th year in 2023, is one of the oldest continuously operating firms in the southern hemisphere. With over 300 offices worldwide, including in New Zealand, Asia, the South Pacific, India, Australia, and the Middle East, the brand has established a strong presence.
Gerard Ponsonby, a seasoned professional in New Zealand’s property industry, has joined Raine & Horne as the leader of these initial offices in the country. With more than three decades of experience, Ponsonby is excited about the opportunity to be part of Raine & Horne and utilize their superior technology ecosystem, which includes online proposal tool DigiKitPlus and social media marketing platform Amplify. He also looks forward to leveraging their marketing, training, and agency systems.
Ponsonby, who opened his first real estate office in 1997, brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the table. He expresses his enthusiasm for joining Raine & Horne, highlighting their impressive 140-year legacy and trusted brand reputation. Having witnessed the same family leading the company throughout its history, he sees it as a testament to their success and real estate expertise.
The timing for this change is ideal, as Ponsonby takes over from LJ Hookers. Having lived in Kaitaia since the late 1970s and previously worked as a farmer, Ponsonby understands the region and its unique property market. Raine & Horne Kaitaia, Paihia, and Mangonui will specialize in selling lifestyle acreage, rural, commercial, and residential properties.
This transition to Raine & Horne comes at the perfect moment, as the Northland region is increasingly attracting buyers looking beyond Auckland. Ponsonby points out that properties in Northland are more affordable compared to Auckland, where the average price exceeds $1 million. In contrast, in the Northland region, one can still find excellent family homes for less than $900,000.
