In late 2025, New Zealand is eagerly anticipating the arrival of its first IKEA store, situated in Auckland‘s Sylvia Park. This iconic brand, founded in 1943 and operating in 31 markets worldwide, is operated by various companies with different owners.

In New Zealand, the IKEA operation is overseen by Ingka Group, which represents approximately 90% of all IKEA stores. The forthcoming Auckland store will span approximately 34,000m2 and consist of three floors, including a ground-level carpark and a two-level store.

Distinct entry and exit points will be provided, ensuring convenient access for customers, while maintaining a connection to the rest of the Sylvia Park precinct. Notably, the store will feature a restaurant and bistro, where Kiwis can indulge in IKEA’s renowned meatballs and hot dogs.

Furthermore, the store will boast environmentally conscious features such as solar panels, EV chargers in the carpark, and 100% LED lighting. Additionally, customers will have the convenience of online shopping.

Anticipated to open in late 2025, the Auckland IKEA store is set to become a hub for the latest design and home furnishing solutions. Mirja Viinanen, the chief executive of IKEA in Australia and NZ, expressed excitement about showcasing these offerings to help people create a better life at home.
