Elizabeth Galley can’t afford to be homeless.
But it’s a reality the 23-year-old South Waikato mother, who requires power in order to be tube fed 14 hours a day, is facing amid Tokoroa’s rental shortage crisis.
According to real estate firm Property Brokers she’s one of over 5000 struggling to find a home to rent in the Waikato but in Tokoroa demand is so high the company no longer advertises rentals.
For four months Galley, who has a four-year-old daughter and custody of her 14-year-old sister, has been searching in vain for a home to rent due to her current landlord selling up.
