For the first time, the average asking price for a property in Northland has hit the $600,000 mark.

Real estate figures for January show the region’s now the fourth-highest priced in New Zealand, after Central Otago, Coromandel, and Bay of Plenty.

Real Estate spokesperson Vanessa Taylor said the Northland asking price of $609,000 was up 8.6 percent, while new listings fell by nearly 20 per cent – the biggest drop in the country.
