NRL legend Johnathan Thurston lists former Townsville home for sale

NRL legend and former North Queensland Cowboys captain, Johnathan Thurston, has listed his former Townsville home after making a nearby purchase with its own sporting past.

It’s reported that Thurston and wife Samantha purchased their new seafront Rowes Bay house for $4.5 million in September last year.

The new digs come with a sporting status all its own, with the house formerly home to golfing superstar Greg Norman and Olympic swimming bronze medallist Glenn Buchanan.

The Thurston’s purchase set a suburb record for Rowes Bay, but that wasn’t their only move in the beachside enclave – the pair also snapped up another nearby residence in December, with property records showing settlement earlier this month.

The property hopscotch ends with the listing of their former home a few doors down; a contemporary waterfront villa on 805sqm. It’s tipped to exceed the $2 million mark.

The two-level home has five bedrooms, two living areas, 2.5 bathrooms and a large study or sixth bedroom, all in a clean and light palette.

On the lower level, you’ll find a beautifully appointed kitchen with an adjoining light-filled open plan dining and family room. This space flows through to the outdoor deck area and in-ground pool.

The study has its own private entrance, ‘his and her’ built-in desks and custom shelving. There is also a large fifth bedroom, powder room and laundry on this level.

It’s reported that agent Glenn Bower said there had already been “considerable interest” in the property since it hit the market on Tuesday afternoon.
