Property experts are virtually unanimous in predicting a property price slump post lockdown — it’s just the degree of the drop that varies according to whom you talk to.

But an online house auction in Level 3 has defied these predictions, with a Remuera cottage selling for considerably more than the highest price offered earlier in the year.

John Q and Rith Sdoeung of Ray White Remuera sold the 85 square-metre, three-bedroom house in Peach Parade for $1,212,000 following competitive bidding between four of the six registered bidders.

John Q says there were dozens of bids that saw the price rise from the $700,000 starting bid all the way up to the final figure. “We had 53 people through for private inspections and 93 people were sent the online property information pack — there was strong interest from first-home buyers and investors alike.
