The University of Otago has unveiled plans to build a $90 million residential college.

The new 450-bed residential college, which is named after former student Te Rangi Hiroa, will include seven levels spread over four wings. The extra capacity would meet the expected increase in student enrolments, and was scheduled to be operational by 2023.

The college would be built on university-owned land on the corner of Albany and Forth Sts, and would replace the college of the same name which is part of the Dunedin Hospital rebuild.
