A property management firm is in hot water for taking more than nine weeks to fix a leaky, mouldy ceiling in a Wellington flat.

Oxygen has been ordered by the Tenancy Tribunal to pay a tenant $350 for failing to fix the issue within a reasonable timeframe.

It took almost two and a half months for property managers to complete the repair work, after it was reported by tenants in late-March.

The tenant, Alex Holland, was forced to sleep on a mattress on the floor, and was kept awake by dripping noises caused by water seeping through the ceiling into a bucket on his bedroom floor.
