It’s a running joke in architect Dave Strachan’s office that black is his favourite colour.
And when scrolling through projects the award-winning designer’s completed, it’s understandable – black houses do feature a lot.
“I like the way it sets a building into a landscape set amongst the trees. It’s a nice colour in that way,” he said. “Black is a colour of our country a Kiwi colour, like how the Australians have green and gold.”
