A petition calling for halt to a state housing development in Hamilton’s north-east has attracted 1700 signatures in five days.
National’s Hamilton East MP, David Bennett, launched the petition on Friday and said the response to date has been “unbelievable”.
The petition calls for a proposed Kāinga Ora (formerly Housing New Zealand) development in Flagstaff to be stopped and for ministry staff to consult with the public.
Seventy units of two- and three-storey buildings are proposed for Endeavour Ave, adjacent to the Flagstaff Shopping Centre.
