Tui Lewis hopes the surviving heritage buildings in Jackson St are finally going to get their day in the sun.
The Petone-based city councillor has had to sit back and watch the Hutt City Council invest tens of million into its struggling central business area.
In contrast, there has been little council investment in Petone, which is booming on the back of rising house prices, an influx of big box retailers and hundreds of new apartments.
The development has come, however, at the cost of losing a significant number of heritage buildings, particularly on Jackson St.
