According to realestate.com.au the mystery buyer of the $12.95m penthouse crowning a luxurious new Brisbane development has been revealed as the boss of one of the state’s biggest success stories, Domino’s Pizza.
Don Meij, the self-proclaimed ‘big cheese’ and ‘pizzapreneur’, now owns a significant slice of the city skyline after snapping up the 537 sqm sky home in Cavcorp’s new Luminare tower at Newstead.
Neither Cavcorp nor the sales agent would comment, but industry sources have confirmed Mr Meij as the buyer of the penthouse, which is still being completed. Property records show he has also bought a two-bedroom apartment in the project for $1.5m.
The sale of the penthouse is equivalent to $24,000 per square metre — setting a new ‘per square metre’ apartment sale price record for Brisbane.
Place Ascot’s Patrick McKinnon, who negotiated the sale, declined to comment when contacted by News Corp.
While there aren’t even any images of the penthouse yet, design plans show it will have a grand master retreat with a huge walk-in wardrobe and ensuite, three further ensuited bedrooms, a private gym, office, open plan kitchen, dining and living spaces, a private plunge pool, 68 sqm balcony, a huge recreation room and uninterrupted city views.
There will also be two entrances, one for the resident and a second one that could be used by staff.
Luminare also has 214 two and three bedroom “wellness-lifestyle residences” available for sale, with spectacular resident amenities located on the 27th floor overlooking the Brisbane skyline.
They include a 35m heated infinity pool with a glass bottom and cantilevered edge suspended 90m in the sky, a fitness centre with Technogym equipment, a turf training track, a Reformer pilates bed, balance domes and yoga balls, a steam room, two saunas, and a rain shower.
Plus, two magnesium spa baths with outdoor and underwater speakers.
Mr Meij made a cool $2.4m from the sale of his Gold Coast beachfront apartment in May last year.
The Brisbane-based CEO sold the whole-floor apartment in the Sea building at 3531-3533 Main Beach Parade for $7.8m — shy of the $7.95m he was originally asking for, but a signficant uplift on the $5.35m he paid for it in 2020.
