Post-lockdown office space subleasing is starting to take off as firms downsize or cut costs and staff opt to work from home.
Leading real estate consultancy firms Colliers International and CBRE New Zealand say many businesses including large ones are considering this.
Businesses are also looking at a ‘hub and spoke’ and ‘hub and flex’ leasing. That could involve a smaller CBD headquarters supplemented by flexible and co-working space when required.
Tenants in Auckland were in discussions with CBRE brokers about offering 50,000 square metres for subleasing in the Auckland CBD and the suburbs, CBRE Q2 New Zealand Market Rents and Yields report said.
