From blue-chip real estate to zombie spoofs, these property agents have ventured into film production, enlisting an outrageous cast led by ‘90s rapper Vanilla Ice for their latest feature.

Queensland agents Alex and Victoria Fleri have signed the “Ice Ice Baby” rapper, Robert Van Winkle, to star in their new zombie comedy — or ‘zomedy’ — alongside Chuck Norris and Aussie stars Sophie Monk, Amy Shark, and Natalie Bassingthwaighte.

Titled “Zombie Plane,” the film is being shot in Brisbane and on the Gold Coast. The Fleris have confirmed the late addition of “heavyweight stars,” including boxer Mike Tyson and wrestler Hulk Hogan.

Directed by Lav Bodnaruk and Michael Mier, the plot follows Vanilla Ice and Sophie Monk playing themselves, teaming up when passengers on a jet from Sydney to Los Angeles become infected with new strains of zombie viruses.

Filming of this raucous ode to ‘90s pop culture began last year with support from Screen Australia and is expected to wrap next month.

“It is basically the stupidest movie that has ever been made — it’s Naked Gun meets zombies and hot chicks,” said Mr. Fleri.

The couple, who list luxury properties through Amir Prestige, continue to focus on real estate while bankrolling prospective blockbusters.

“Real estate continues to be our main focus, and we have some great prestige listings coming through. It’s an exciting time for the Gold Coast with some major developments being actioned,” Mr. Fleri said.

“The movie industry is really booming here, which underpins the wider economy. It’s great to see the government getting behind the industry and understanding the ripple effect this platform creates for the Gold Coast.”

Since 2015, the Queensland government’s Production Attraction Strategy has secured more than 60 local, interstate, and international productions, contributing more than $2 billion to the local economy and creating more than 20,000 jobs for local cast and crew.

Alex Fleri, trained in martial arts and stunt acting, appears in “Zombie Plane” along with his wife. This marks their fourth movie production, following the 2023 release of “Sons of Summer.”

“We have great resources for locations and assets to assist all local productions, and Zombie Plane has been no different,” Victoria Fleri said.

“Whether it’s been luxe properties, glam cars, or our local stunties and extras getting to be on set, it’s always a pleasure to make a local production come to life.”

Planning for the comedy’s red carpet launch is already underway.

“The film is crazy and unique — the launch should probably be the same.”

Vanilla Ice, who documented his passion for home renovation in the reality TV show “The Vanilla Ice Project,” used his downtime in Australia for some local house hunting, Mr. Fleri said.

“Rob indicated he’d really like something beachfront in Byron Bay, so we compiled a list of properties for him to look at,” he said.

The high-end hit list included a double-storey mansion with views over Wategos Beach priced at $22 million, and a luxurious acreage estate with a film and TV recording studio.
