OPINION: What does it cost to get on the housing ladder in New Zealand?

A lot; we all know that. Already more than almost any other country in the OECD compared to income, and rising.

It’s getting harder and harder for people without an asset to leverage to purchase their first home.

Hard work, sure, if what we mean is having a job and being committed to it and doing it well, so that you earn a decent wage that will ideally increase over time.
