Wellington property owner trustee Naginbhai Neil Patel baulked at the size of a lawyer’s bill for making a liquor licensing application.
The $123,140.97 was eventually paid – under threat of selling up to 11 of the trust’s properties – but lawyer and client were back in court this week facing off over the caveats that restricted Patel and another trustee dealing with the properties in the meantime.
Patel and Ratilal Patel, as trustees of the Vishnu Trust, want to keep fighting about the bill from lawyer John Dean. They have asked the High Court to set aside the Wellington District Court order that forced them to pay up to preserve the trust’s properties.
