Disgraced businessman Ron Brierley has been freed from jail early after having his sentence cut.
The 84-year-old’s sentence was reduced in the Supreme Court of New South Wales last week, making him eligible for parole.
He has since been released from Long Bay Jail in Sydney, AAP reported.
When Brierley was last seen in public last year he was frail, relying on a walking stick and slow-moving as he entered a Sydney courthouse for sentencing.
He was jailed for possessing 46,000 child abuse material images and spent the first two weeks of his 14-month sentence in COVID isolation.
Brierley’s lawyer previously told the Supreme Court of NSW his client wasn’t fit to be living within the “ordinary jail population”.
