Shelly Bay

A walk-through display has been set up  to give people a glimpse of what a developed  Shelly Bay may look like.

The planned $500 million development sits on the western edge of Wellington’s Miramar peninsula – the land and what becomes of it has been a source of contention, especially for director Sir Peter Jackson.

Independent commissioners granted resource consent to The Wellington Company developer Ian Cassels in October 2019.

And from January 29 to February 15, the public will be able to  visit a lodge at Shelly Bay to see a real-life scale setup of what the area’s roads could look like with life-sized cars, bikes and people.
