The real estate agent selling the former Dunedin  property of the Bain family says there has been a “positive response” to the listing.

Five members of the Bain family were found dead in the house at 65 Every St, Anderson’s Bay, in June, 1994. The family’s only surviving member, 22-year-old David Bain, was charged with the murders within a week and subsequently convicted at a trial in 1995. After serving about 13 years of a 16-year jail sentence, he was acquitted of the murders after a new trial in 2007.

The Bain home itself was burned to the ground a few weeks after the murders took place.  The house currently on the property, which was built in 1996, is now on the market in a deadline sale that closes on August 7.
