Central city buildings in Wellington look set to be turned into “affordable” apartments as a way to tackle the capital’s growing housing crisis.
Wellington City Council is forging ahead with plans for inner-city building conversions and will discuss a potential deal at a meeting on Thursday from which the public will be excluded.
Brian Dawson, who holds the social development and housing portfolio, said the plan for conversions was now “on the cusp of moving ahead”.
