Queensland’s regional towns have emerged as the strongest house price performers of 2018, with some recording growth more than seven times that of Brisbane.
House prices in Mackay went up 7.4 per cent in the 12 months to December 2018, while the Scenic Rim was up by 7.2 per cent, Ipswich by 5.4 per cent and Gympie up 6.3 per cent.
The Sunshine Coast continued its impressive run of steady growth, chalking up 4.2 per cent growth over 2018 to a new median house price of $615,000.
House prices in Brisbane’s local government area flatlined over 2018, recording 0.0 per cent growth, but rose slightly over the December quarter to a median of $670,000.
