A former Sydney real estate agent, Arvind Pillay, 36, has been charged by the police following the discovery of drugs concealed in the trunk of his car.
Pillay, previously employed as a property agent in Sydney’s northwest, came under police scrutiny when he was observed in his white Mercedes at a known drug hotspot in Redfern in January.
According to court documents, Pillay exhibited signs of nervousness when informed by the police about the area’s reputation for drug activity, responding with, “That’s disgusting.”

Former Raine & Horne Quakers Hill real estate agent Arvind Pillay, 36, was charged with drug dealing after police allegedly found 50grams of methamphetamine and a small amount of heroin in the boot of his Mercedes
Given Pillay’s prior conviction for drug dealing and noting an ice pipe protruding from the driver’s side door, law enforcement decided to conduct a search of his vehicle. Their search revealed nearly 50 grams of methamphetamine and a small quantity of heroin contained in ziplock bags in the trunk.
Furthermore, a business card belonging to the community corrections office, where Pillay is required to report while on parole, was allegedly discovered among the seized items.
Following his arrest at Mascot Police Station, Pillay was charged with drug supply and possession of suspected stolen goods.
Text messages retrieved from one of the four phones found in Pillay’s possession indicated communication with a friend about the search and subsequent arrest. One message stated, “Bro, I’m being searched and arrested,” while another appealed, “I’m going to jail… Come down please and say it was yours. I will pay for everything.”
Pillay has remained in custody since his arrest and has not yet entered a plea. It is anticipated that he will seek release in the coming weeks.
