Wellington Free Ambulance’s Onesie Day annual appeal is back and Tommy’s Real Estate are excited to don their green onesies, this time from their homes! Tommy’s are steadfast supporters of Wellington Free Ambulance and say they are proud to support a local and worthwhile organisation to continue to save lives.
Their yearly contribution of $75,000 helps make up the additional $7 million that Wellington Free Ambulance requires each year to continue running its free ambulance service.
Tommy’s, like Wellington Free, believe that in an emergency, help should be available for everyone who needs it without worrying about cost. “Somebody always knows someone who has used the service; two of our staff members have this month, says,” Tommy’s marketing manager, Henry Bong. “If you grow up in Wellington you might assume ambulance services are free elsewhere, but they are not. Wellington Free is the only uniquely free ambulance service in the country. As a local Wellington company, we love to help keep it free, for our fellow Wellingtonians.”
Tommy’s agents Zoe Smith and Sam Newble were involved in this year’s Onesie Day photoshoot, as they are part of Tommy’s Selling Sunset’s Team that raised the most for Onesie Day last year. “I felt humbled to have my photo taken alongside the Wellington Free team,” says Zoe. Sam knows first-hand how amazing the team are at Wellington Free having called for an ambulance recently after he injured his back.
“The team who looked after me we’re amazing. “Wellington Free cares for people in their worst moments, in terrible, scary and painful circumstances, at all hours of the day and night. It takes a special sort of person to get up and do that every day and we’re all unbelievably lucky to have them as we never know when we might need them.” Sam and Zoe are both excited to be out collecting again on Onesie Day (2-4 September 2021).
“We’re competitive people working in a competitive environment. It’s a great cause that people can relate to and really get behind, also office bragging rights can go a long way,” Sam jokes. Henry says Onesie day is a great campaign, and an opportunity for Tommy’s and its staff to get out in the community to raise money and awareness. “It’s the only day in the year where you can turn up to work in a Onesie!”
“Last year, the Tommy’s team raised more than $10,000 for Wellington Free Ambulance and we are hoping we can raise more this year,” says Henry.
