A Wellington real estate agency is hoping a zero-commission offer will help it make its name in the market.
Euan Mackenzie, owner of Mackenzies Real Estate in Hutt Valley, is expanding from commercial real estate into residential.
Owners who list with Mackenzies Real Estate before September 1 will pay no commission if the property is under contract within the period of the agency agreement.
Sellers would be required to pay for a $7000 marketing package but would face no other costs.
A typical Wellington real estate commission would range from about $16,000 to $23,000 on a $500,000 house.
Mackenzie said, while working in commercial real estate, he had been asked by clients to sell their homes, too. “We decided we would expand and do all facets of real estate. In doing so we thought we’d do something to get our name out there. Also, some people might be going through tough times at the moment.”
