A new charge has been brought against a Bondi real estate agent, alleging that she withheld crucial information from the authorities regarding a fatal street racing incident that claimed the lives of two young brothers.

Raquel Marie Borg, 24, purportedly rode in an Audi driven by Adam Yurun on August 25 of the previous year, caught on CCTV engaging in a street race against another vehicle driven by Jimmy Martin Brito along The Grand Parade in Monterey, Sydney. The alleged race exceeded speeds of 130 km/h in 60 km/h residential zones.

Tragically, the competition ended in disaster when Brito lost control of his Subaru, colliding with a pole and resulting in the deaths of his nephews, Peter Abreu, 9, and Xavier Abreu, 10.

Borg, who reportedly witnessed the fatal crash, did not immediately cooperate with authorities until her arrest weeks later. Initially charged with concealing a serious indictable offense, a second charge was added in the Sydney Downing Centre Local Court on Thursday.

Court documents assert that Borg failed to notify police of the crash despite being aware of its occurrence and its fatal consequences, thereby hindering the apprehension and prosecution of Yurun for manslaughter and dangerous driving causing death.

Borg, represented by lawyer Samuel Shenouda, has yet to enter pleas for either of the concealment charges, with Magistrate Clare Farnan adjourning the case for two months to facilitate a case conference.

Police allege that the fatal street race began at 9:30 pm on August 25, 2023, in La Perouse, Sydney, and ended with Brito’s vehicle careening into a pole after losing control, resulting in the tragic deaths of his nephews. Surveillance footage captured the chilling moment of impact, showing the vehicle wrapping around a tree with such force that its engine was dislodged several meters away.
