A Darwin real estate agent defrauded his employer Elders by diverting advertising rebates into his own bank accounts to get out of “serious financial trouble” or because of “greed”, a jury has found.

The jury in Chris Deutrom’s trial took two hours to reach guilty verdicts on eight separate charges of obtaining a benefit by deception.
Deutrom directed $237,000 in advertising rebates from the NT News and realestate.com.au throughout 2015 and 2016 into his personal accounts, including Deutrom Pty Ltd and a joint account with his wife.
