A Victorian real estate agent who allegedly stole her client’s deposits is believed to have fled overseas days after skipping a disciplinary hearing with the state’s consumer watchdog.
Consumer Affairs Victoria is pursuing the suspension or cancellation of the license of Debra Lawry, a former officer in charge of Bovicelli Investments Pty Ltd (Ray White Romsey), for allegedly failing to meet trust account audit requirements over four years. Despite repeated warnings and fines, Lawry is accused of neglecting these obligations, which are crucial under the Estate Agents Act 1980. The Victorian watchdog claims her actions demonstrate a lack of diligence and professionalism. A tribunal hearing was set for September 24, 2024, to address these allegations
