A finance company director has been sentenced to 75 hours community service for abusing a financial services register.
Morgan DeVere Corporate Finance director Rene Moorby was sentenced for breaching the Financial Service Providers (Registration and Dispute Resolution) Act.
The Financial Markets Authority (FMA) alleged that the company said it was registered on the Financial Services Providers Register (FSPR) after it had deregistered.
The FSPR is a compulsory public register of financial services providers.
Moorby, who has worked as a real estate agent in Wellington, pleaded guilty one charge in the Wellington District Court on Thursday.
