A real estate agent who forged a colleague’s signature to save her own house has lost her real estate licence.
In February, the Real Estate Agents Disciplinary Tribunal censured Bernadette Makuini Marr for misconduct after she altered documents in an attempt to save her family home during a mortgagee sale.
This month, the tribunal cancelled Marr’s real estate licence.
The tribunal found the need to protect the interests of consumers and to promote public confidence in the performance of real estate agency work outweighed evidence presented by the defence in relation to Marr’s previously unblemished career and character references.
