During a pre-sentence hearing at the Victorian County Court, it was revealed that a real estate agent, Steven Tabban, 39, had been banned from the industry after preying on young women during job interviews. Tabban, a 20-year veteran in real estate, pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual assault.
His lawyer, Emman Turnbull, argued for leniency, suggesting a fine or good behavior bond, highlighting the cancellation of Tabban’s license in August due to his actions. She emphasized the significant impact on his career and identity. Tabban, a new father, had undergone a 20-week men’s behavioral change program and therapy, showing remorse and insight into his behavior.
Tabban, director of Create Real Estate in Sunshine, Melbourne, intentionally touched two women without consent during after-hours interviews, including attempting to kiss one and coercing the other to touch him inappropriately.
Prosecutor Richard Pirrie contended that a conviction was necessary due to Tabban’s abuse of power, use of isolated locations, and the age gap with his victims, aged 19 and 21 at the time.

The judge, Gregory Lyon, adjourned the case to deliberate on the submissions, and sentencing will be delivered at a later date. Tabban was supported in court by his wife.
