PHOTO: House prices are down around the country
Housing prices are plummeting as Australia’s property market continues to experience the wobbles, and many now fear buying or selling is too much of a gamble.
But experts have spoken to A Current Affair to take the mystery out of the market, revealing when to buy and if you should sell.
Couple Joanna and Grant have been wanting to buy for the past two years, but it’s only been in recent times properties in Melbourne’s Narre Warren have been within reach.
Grant said one house they had looked at was now at $795,000, when two years ago it would have been over $1 million.
Overall values are down by nearly eight per cent nationally since 2017, and sellers have become more realistic about prices, making it a buyer’s market.
“I don’t think there’s a better time to buy,” Grant said.
But despite the drop in prices, there are more dwellings on the market than at any time since 2012.
